Games Coaching
Games lessons sit at the heart of the school’s PE timetable and play a crucial role in every pupil’s physical, technical, and personal development. With longer session times than most other lessons, games provide the ideal opportunity to develop individual skills, tactical understanding, teamwork, and confidence.
Our Games Coaching programmes provide qualified, specialist coaches in rugby, hockey, netball, and cricket, ensuring every pupil — regardless of ability — has access to high-quality coaching and a positive experience of school sport. We work in partnership with Games departments to strengthen staffing, support busy Directors of Sport and Heads of Department, and raise standards across training and fixtures.

The support from Lions Sports Academy has been instrumental in strengthening rugby at Lord Wandsworth College. Their input across the junior age groups through to the 1st XV has significantly enhanced the quality and consistency of our provision. Working alongside our staff, Lions have helped us grow the programme to the strongest position it has been in for a number of years. This collaborative approach played an important role in our success at Rosslyn Park 7s, culminating in winning the Plate in 2025. The partnership has added real value to our rugby programme while remaining fully aligned with the school’s ethos and direction.
This has been one of the most successful rugby seasons in recent memory, with outstanding participation, performance, and engagement across the programme. The support provided has played a key role in delivering well-structured, enjoyable, and professional sessions that have enhanced both staff capacity and the boys’ experience.
