1. What Sports do your residential camps offer?

We run sport-specific residential camps throughout the year, including rugby, cricket and hockey, at a range of UK venues.

We offer both boys’ and girls’ camps in every sport, with additional sports being added over time.

2. What ages can attend?

Most camps are designed for children aged 9–15 years.
Players are grouped by age and ability to ensure appropriate coaching and a positive experience for everyone.

 Exact age ranges are confirmed on each individual camp page.

3. Are the camps suitable for all abilities?

Yes. Our residential camps are suitable for complete beginners through to experienced players.

Coaching groups are organised by ability, and sessions are adapted to support individual development, confidence and enjoyment.

4. Where are the camps held?

Our residential camps take place at high-quality school and boarding venues across the UK.

5. Is my child supervised at all times?

Yes. Children are supervised 24/7 throughout the camp.
Our team provides full safeguarding and pastoral care, including overnight supervision, welfare checks and structured daily routines.

6. Are staff qualified and DBS-checked?

Yes. All coaching and camp staff are:

  • Qualified in their sport
  • Enhanced DBS-checked
  • Experienced in working with children in school and residential settings

7. Where do they sleep? Dorms or Tents?

Accommodation is provided on-site at each venue and typically consists of boarding house rooms with a range of room sizes.

 We do our best to room children with friends where requested.

Please note:
At Reed’s School Rugby Residentials, accommodation is in high-quality Vango Avington 500 tents, which is always made clear on the camp booking page.

8. How long do the residential camps last?

Most camps run for 3 days and 2 nights.

Exact start and finish times are confirmed before the camp.

9. What’s included in the price?

The cost of the camp includes:

  • Qualified, DBS-checked coaching staff
    Structured sport-specific coaching sessions
  • Three hot meals per day plus snacks
  • Use of excellent sports facilities
  • Recovery activities where available (e.g. swimming)
  • A Lions Sports Academy t-shirt
  • Individual player feedback
  • Camp awards
  • Supervised evening activities and social time

10. What happens in the evenings?

Evenings are designed to be fun, active and social, helping children relax and build friendships.
Activities may include:

  • Relaxed games and tournaments in different sports
  • Swimming or recovery sessions
  • Team challenges and games

All evening activities are fully supervised.

11. Will my child meet professional players?

Yes. Many of our residential camps include sessions led by professional athletes, along with:

  • Q&A opportunities
  • Autographs and photos
  • Insights into elite sport and mindset

Guest players vary by camp and are listed on individual camp pages.

12. Will my child receive individual feedback?

Yes. Every player receives individual feedback from our coaching team, including:

  • Key strengths
  • Areas to work on
  • Practical next steps for development

13. How will the camp benefit my child?

Parents commonly report improvements in:

  • Confidence and independence
  • Technical and tactical understanding
  • Social skills and teamwork
    Motivation and enjoyment of sport

For many children, residential camps are also a great first experience of being away from home in a safe, supportive environment.

14. Can you cater for dietary requirements and allergies?

Yes. We regularly support a wide range of dietary requirements and allergies.
Please contact info@lions-wp.codeit.space after booking so we can inform the catering team in advance.

15. Can my child room with friends?

Yes – where possible, we will room children with friends.
Please email info@lions-wp.codeit.space with rooming requests once booked.

16. What if my child feels homesick or gets injured?

Homesickness is common and something our staff are very experienced in managing with care and reassurance.

If a child is injured or unwell:

  • They will be supported immediately by staff
  • Parents will be contacted where appropriate
  • Any medical needs are handled in line with our safeguarding procedures

17. What is your mobile phone policy?

Mobile phones are allowed, but use is managed to support rest, focus and social interaction.

  • Phones are kept in dorms during the day
  • They are not used during coaching, activities or meals
  • There is a set time each evening for children to contact home
  • No phone use is permitted after lights-out

If phones are used after lights-out, they may be held safely by the Camp Lead until collection. Parents will be informed.

18. What should my child pack?

Once booked, you will receive a detailed kit list including:

  • Sports kit
  • Casual clothes
  • Toiletries
  • Trainers and footwear
  • Swimwear (where applicable)

19. How much do the camps cost?

Prices vary by venue and age group. Exact pricing is listed on each camp booking page.

20. Do you offer payment plans?

Then email info@lions-wp.codeit.space to arrange a payment plan.

21. Do you offer group discounts?

Yes. We offer a 10% discount for groups of four or more.
Email info@lions-wp.codeit.space to receive a unique discount code.

22. Do you accept childcare vouchers?

Not currently, but this is something we are actively working towards.

24. What is your cancellation and refund policy?

At Lions Sports Academy, we understand that plans can change. Our cancellation and refund policy is designed to be fair while allowing us to effectively plan and deliver high-quality residential camps.

Participant Cancellations

More than 60 days before camp start date

Full refund minus the booking fee

15–60 days before camp start date

50% refund of the total camp fee.

14 days or fewer before camp start date

No refund will be issued.

Non-attendance

No refund will be provided for failure to attend without prior notice.

Medical Withdrawals

In cases of illness or injury preventing attendance, a partial refund or credit may be considered upon receipt of a valid medical certificate.

Each case will be reviewed individually.

Camp Cancellation by Lions Sports Academy

If Lions Sports Academy cancels a camp due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., insufficient numbers, venue issues, force majeure):

Participants will be offered a full refund or

The option to transfer to an alternative camp date.

Lions Sports Academy is not responsible for additional costs incurred (e.g., travel or accommodation booked independently).

Transfers

Camp places may be transferred to another participant (subject to approval and eligibility).

Date transfers may be considered if requested more than 30 days before the camp start date, subject to availability and an administrative fee.

25. How can I keep up to date during the camp?

We share regular photos and videos during camp so parents can see what’s happening.

  1. How do you keep children safe during the residential camp?

Safeguarding and welfare are our top priorities at every Lions Sports Academy residential.

We operate in line with school and national safeguarding standards, with clear procedures in place to ensure every child feels safe, supported and cared for throughout their stay.

This includes:

  • 24/7 supervision by trained staff
  • Clear daily routines and structured timetables
  • Separate accommodation for staff and players, with appropriate overnight supervision
  • Regular headcounts and welfare checks

27. Are staff trained in safeguarding?

Yes. All staff:

  • Hold enhanced DBS checks
  • Are trained in safeguarding and child protection
  • Understand our behaviour, supervision and reporting procedures

Staff are briefed before each camp on safeguarding expectations, boundaries and welfare protocols.

28. What happens overnight?

Children are supervised overnight with:

  • Clear lights-out times
  • Staff on-call throughout the night
  • Welfare checks where appropriate

Children always know who to go to if they feel unwell, worried or need support during the night.

  1. How do you manage behaviour on camp?

We have clear expectations around behaviour, respect and conduct.

All children are expected to:

  • Treat others with respect
  • Follow staff instructions
  • Behave in a way that keeps themselves and others safe

Any behaviour concerns are managed calmly and appropriately by senior staff, with parents involved where necessary.
